The red poppy is a symbol of war remembrance all over the world.   Poppies are worn as a show of support for our Anzacs.  During WWI, the red poppy was one of the first plants to grow and bloom on battlefields in the Belgian region of Flanders, hence the poem, written by Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae, ‘In Flanders fields’.
All of our poppy designs are created by us, in our home studio in Christchurch.  We take pure copper and cut and dome it by hand.  Then we sift a thick layer of vitreous (glass) enamel onto the copper.  This piece is then kiln-fired to achieve an even and glossy finish.
Our large poppy pendant measures 30mm x 30mm.  The chain is made from sterling silver and is adjustable so it can be worn shorter at 45cm or at 70cm.
