This colourful stone heart with flowers is hand carved from Kisii stone and coloured with water based paints.
Please note that as these are assorted it will be luck of the draw which colour you receive.

Kisii soapstone is mined by hand from quarries in Western Kenya. Carvers cut the large rocks into smaller pieces, then chisel a rough shape into the stone. Women then sand wash the stone pieces and polish them. Each heart is at least one hours work. The stone carvers of Kisii are one of many craft groups working alongside Trade Aid’s partner, Undugu Fair Trade.
